On the morning of May 15, Zheng Liping, member of the University Party Standing Committee and Vice President, visited the School of Microelectronics and Data Science for a research and guidance meeting. The school’s leadership team and directors of various departments and divisions participated in the discussion.

During the meeting, members of the school’s leadership team provided a comprehensive briefing on the school’s progress in Party building and ideological work, education and teaching, scientific research, disciplinary development, faculty recruitment, and student training. Department heads then engaged in candid discussions, outlining the challenges currently faced in professional development and the delivery of general education courses.

After listening to the reports, Vice President Zheng expressed high recognition of the school’s achievements in recent years across key domains. He emphasized the importance of deeply implementing the spirit of the Central Committee’s Eight-Point Regulation. Zheng urged the school to advance learning, self-inspection, and reform as a coordinated process—ensuring depth in study, precision in issue identification, and tangible outcomes in rectification.

Zheng underscored the need to strengthen the leadership team, enhance their sense of responsibility, and fully leverage their exemplary role. He advocated for a proactive approach to external cooperation—both “going out” and “bringing in”—to raise the school’s openness and academic influence.

Reiterating the central mission of “fostering virtue through education,” Zheng called for steady reforms in the teaching of foundational courses, encouraging the school to refine both content and pedagogy to enhance the overall quality of education and student development.

Regarding faculty development, Zheng urged the school to invest in nurturing its teaching staff. He emphasized the need to cultivate an educator’s spirit among faculty, inspiring personal growth and reinforcing their commitment to guiding students with dedication and vision.

He also stressed the importance of consolidating professional foundations by aligning programs with industry and market demands. The school should highlight its academic strengths to raise its reputation. Furthermore, innovation in disciplinary development must continue, with focused efforts on degree program construction and distinctive academic features. Deeper integration between industry and education, along with cross-disciplinary collaboration, should be key priorities.(Written by: Chen Xia, Guo Wenyun. Reviewed by: Yang Erguang, Wang Chunsheng.
